The Role Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of HII, is now offering a $2,000 sign-on bonus to all entry-level (Engineer 1) new hires.
Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks.
Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.
This job positing for a number of Electrical Engineer position within the Newport News Shipbuilding Nuclear Propulsion Division.
The Nuclear Propulsion Division has departments that support ship nuclear propulsion plant New Construction, Overhaul, Radiological Control, Test and Nuclear Reactor Servicing.
Candidates for these positions will develop engineering solutions, written technical direction, and provide waterfront support for the new construction, overhaul, radiological control, and reactor fueling/refueling of carrier and submarine Reactor Plant electrical systems.
Successful candidates will possess analytical and problem solving skills to resolve technical issues which arise during nuclear propulsion system servicing.
The individual shall have the communication and relational skills to interface and discuss technical issues with engineering and non-technical personnel.
In addition, the individual will be willing to provide some percentage of hands-on support on the ship.
We are looking for engaged personnel looking to make a difference and uphold the highest level of technical standards required for work in the Navy Nuclear Propulsion Program in such areas as: 1.
Research and plan processes, tooling, and material needs to provide a completely engineered solution for the execution of nuclear work 2.
Develop technical work instructions such as procedures and troubleshooting paperwork.
3.
Provide on-site support and problem solving for issues that arise during shipboard or shop work.
4.
Research and develop innovative solutions to resolve technical problems.
5.
Project manage work from beginning to end.
The NNS Nuclear Propulsion Division provides in-house training to improve personnel development and performance by strengthening personal knowledge.
Qualified candidates will be trained on Radiological and Personnel Safety and how to engineer them into all final products used in the performance of Nuclear Work.
Engineers within the Nuclear Propulsion Division work in various roles both in the office and on the waterfront.
Engineers may be expected to navigate through various compartment on Aircraft Carriers, in Submarine shops, and in Production shops.
These roles may be expected to work both indoors and outdoors as needed year round.
Although some limited amount of working remote may be available under certain circumstances and at certain times during construction or overhaul, the candidates for this position should the have the desire and ability to work on site at NNS full time.
Must Have Bachelor's Degree and 0 years of relevant exempt experience.
Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
