Summary:
Yorktown Systems Group is seeking a SQL Database Administrator (DBA) to provide professional services and support to the TRADOC Deputy Chief of Staff for Intelligence (G-2), facilitates and acts as the principal enabler for continuous learning across all TRADOC lines of effort through acquiring, analyzing, creating, organizing, applying and transferring data, information, and knowledge in the context of current and future operations.
The G-2 is responsible for delivering the Operating Environment to facilitate the training of deploying units on joint, national and interagency information, emerging asymmetric capabilities gleaned from world-wide operations; integrating processes, practices, concepts and materiel capabilities into Joint and Service DOTMLPF solutions; and coordinating with the training centers to provide realistic enemy and environmental signatures into models and simulations in support of realistic training.
TRADOC Deputy Chief of Staff for Intelligence (G-2)’s mission is to understand, visualize, describe, deliver & assess the OE in order to reduce risk and prevent surprise; today and into the future 2035+.
TRADOC G-2 is the designated Lead for Core Function #13 Operational Environment; the process of developing, verifying, validating, accrediting, and providing OE products and services represents an authoritative, validated OE contextual baseline for TRADOC users and operational forces in the areas of training and training development; education; leader development; concept and doctrine development; and capabilities development, integration, and evaluation.
Specific duties may include, but are not limited to: The TRADOC G2 SQL DBA serves as the technical expert within the TRADOC G2 Operational Environment Enterprise (OEE) concerning data management planning, development, implementation, problem resolution and administration.
SQL DBA provides Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), Cybersecurity Technical Orders, IA (Information Assurance) Vulnerability Alerts (IAVAs), IA Vulnerability Bulletins (IAVBs) and database development installation, configuration, and maintenance IAW (In Accordance With) DOD (Department of Defense).
The OEE database system utilizes or connects with a variety of IT equipment to include the Microsoft Azure Cloud Services, and covers all or portions the database content for numerous standard and technical automated systems.
The DBA will take responsibility for optimization through disaster recovery to writing and maintaining documentation.
Serves as the SQL Database Administrator for the OEE SharePoint Database System Analyzes and defines data requirements and specifications pertinent to any of the OEE systems or networks Designs methods to facilitate the implementation of new database systems developed by higher authority Plans and implements the application of databases Analyzes and plans for changes in data requirements and interfaces between or among different but interdependent data systems Develops local standards, policies and procedures concerning the use and maintenance of any elements of the OEE SQL databases Troubleshoots problems involved in the input, retrieval or modification of database information and the general operation and maintenance pertinent to any of the corporate data system elements or sub-elements Accomplishes technical, analytical and advisory functions pertinent to the development of local policies, plans, and processes and ensures that work accomplished is in compliance with higher authority policies and guidelines Ensures the rigorous application of information security/information assurance policies, principles and practices in accomplishing the data management functions of this job SQL DBA will provide Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), Cybersecurity Technical Orders, IA (Information Assurance) Vulnerability Alerts (IAVAs), IA Vulnerability Bulletins (IAVBs) and database development installation, configuration, and maintenance IAW (In Accordance With) DOD (Department of Defense).
The DBA will take responsibility for optimization through disaster recovery to writing and maintaining documentation The DBA supports the Data Architect at the onset of the Microsoft Azure Cloud migration to cArmy, starting with the planning and assessment phase The DBA will collaborate closely with the dev/sec/ops team and business stakeholders to determine the scope and requirements of the cArmy cloud migration, this includes identifying the databases and applications that need to be migrated, understanding their dependencies and interrelationships, and assessing the compatibility of the existing databases with the target cloud environment The DBA also evaluates the performance and security requirements of the databases in the cloud, making recommendations for necessary modifications or optimizations.
This may involve reviewing the database schema, indexing strategy, stored procedures, and triggers to ensure they are optimized for the cloud environment The DBA works closely with the dev/sec/ops teams to ensure that the migrated databases and applications function as expected in the cArmy cloud environment.
This may involve conducting functionality and performance tests, security audits, and compatibility checks to ensure that the databases perform optimally and are secure in the cloud.
Required Qualifications: Independently capable of executing analytical methods and data manipulation Strong technical communication and problem-solving skills, adaptable and customer service oriented Confident with quantitative analytical methods and technologies, including exposure to Azure relational and non-relational databases Experience with data manipulation and data visualization using Microsoft SQL Servers within a Microsoft Azure environment and ability to write complex queries Bachelor’s degree in a technical major from an accredited institution desired as well as a minimum of (4) four years of relevant professional experience Equivalent years of related work or military experience in lieu of degree will also be considered Certifications: IAT II (CCNA Security, CSA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, SSCP) and an operating system (OS) certification are minimum requirements for this position Microsoft SQL Server or Microsoft Azure Databases certifications are highly desirable Clearance: Top-Secret with SCI eligibility clearance is required.
Location: Primary work location for the Information management team is Fort Eustis, VA; some members of the team will be located full-time at Fort Leavenworth, KS.
Travel: some travel may be required
