*JOB DESCRIPTION:*
*RESPONSIBILITIES:*
* Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments of patients, including mental health history, risk assessments, and identification of psychiatric symptoms.
* Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to formulate individualized care plans based on assessment findings.
Patient
* Provide compassionate and therapeutic nursing care to patients with psychiatric disorders.
* Monitor and assess patients for changes in mental status, behavior, and physical health.
* Administer psychiatric medications as prescribed and observe and document their effects.
* Implement therapeutic interventions, including individual and group therapy, to promote patients' mental health and well-being.
* Facilitate psychoeducation sessions for patients and their families to enhance understanding of mental health conditions.
* Respond effectively to psychiatric emergencies and crises, implementing appropriate interventions to ensure patient safety.
* Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop crisis management plans for high-risk patients.
* Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate holistic patient care.
* Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team, providing education and support.
* Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient assessments, care plans, and interventions.
* Ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards, as well as healthcare policies and procedures.
* Advocate for the rights and needs of patients, promoting a patient-centered and recovery-oriented approach to care.
* Participate in treatment planning meetings and discharge planning processes.
*REQUIREMENTS:*
* Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of [Specify State].
* Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
* Prior experience in psychiatric nursing or mental health settings is highly desirable.
* Strong understanding of psychiatric medications and their effects.
* Certification in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing (PMHN) is a plus.
* Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) may be required.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective patient engagement and collaboration with the healthcare team.
* Ability to adapt to dynamic and challenging psychiatric environments, demonstrating resilience and flexibility.
* Cultural sensitivity and competence in working with diverse patient populations.
