Overview
Pharmacy Technician II assists in various activities in the pharmacy not requiring the professional judgment of a pharmacist and performs pharmacy related duties in compliance with department policies and procedures.
Demonstrates and maintains competency in all technician tasks and functions and is responsible for the oversight of select areas/functions in the department as designated.
Arranges sequence and timing of work to meet normal and variable work requirements and provides technical support in any or all of the following pharmacy functions.
What you will do
Performs automation fill functions accurately and timely.
Participates in pharmacy preparation for Federal, State, DNV, specialty pharmacy accreditations .
Compliant with all applicable law, regulation and regulatory requirements related to practice setting.
Assists pharmacists in dispensing functions (prescriptions, matching labels, and filling floor requisitions).
Provides customer service excellence by addressing the customers' needs regardless of assignment.
Demonstrates respect, concern and empathy for the spiritual, cultural, emotional and information needs of patients, customers and co-workers.
Follows up with customers to ensure needs are met.
Works within RHS's policies and procedures.
Complies with all HIPAA requirements.
Monitors/supports departmental productivity to meet the needs of the department i.
e.
flexing hours, shift changes and time off.
Demonstrates compliance with RHS time and attendance policy.
Participates in inventory management and drug security.
Demonstrates and maintains competency in all assigned technician tasks/functions for assigned practice setting.
If required in practice setting, completes all compounding in compliance with USP 797, USP 800 and/or USP 795.
Completes all required training.
Maintains required certifications and licenses.
Attends staff meetings, huddle.
Qualifications
Education
Program Graduate, Pharmacy Technician Training program or equivalent (Preferred)
Experience
2 years Experience as Full Time Pharmacy Technician (Required)
2 years Pharmacy Technician in practice area (e.
g.
Hospital, Retail, Specialty) (Preferred)
Skills and Abilities
Medical Terminology
Prescription drug and over-the-counter knowledge
Basic math skills, including pharmaceutical calculations
Pharmacy law and regulation
Basic pharmacy workflow
Pharmacy automation
Pharmacy computer systems
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to prioritize
Excellent customer service skills
Licenses and Certifications
Registered Pharmacy Technician - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) Pharmacy Technician Upon Hire(Required)
Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) PTCB or ExCPT Upon Hire(Required)
