Overview
Responsibilities include work scheduling, evaluating employee performance and managing employee relations.
In addition, the nurse manager is responsible for the quality of work, staff productivity, team morale, nursing unit budget, physician collaboration, and employee adherence to facility and departmental policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Assist with resident care as needed in the absence of regular staff, to include but not limited to pushing medication cart, passing medications to residents.
Nurse Managers may participate in the on-call phone rotation.
What you will do
Expense are routinely controlled and range between 0-5% of total monthly budget for department.
Assures the comprehensive care plan is maintained in conjunction with other disciplines by coordinating with other services such as rehabilitation, social services, activities, dietary, pharmacy, consulting physicians etc.
Responsible for the on boarding, orientation and supervision of the nursing staff to ensure safe work practices.
Overtime hours as a percentage of total paid hours for areas managed by this Supervisor will be 2% or less.
Participates in professional activities, in-service programs, and committee assignments to enhance personal, professional, and institutional advancement.
Ensures the implementation of an effective and ongoing quality assurance program to monitor, evaluate, and improve operations and services.
Ensures the compliance to regulatory statutes, standards of care, and job performance and competency standards.
Follows facility policy and procedures designed to promote resident and employee safety and reduce health care related injuries.
Promotes employee compliance with these policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Experience
3-4 years Nursing experience (Required)
2 years Supervisory experience (Preferred)
Experience working in a long term care setting (Preferred)
Skills and Abilities
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
Proficient in computer applications to perform job duties.
Ability to plan, assign, and/or supervise the work of others.
Licenses and Certifications
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) Upon Hire(Required)
BLS/CPR/AED - American Heart Association within 30 Days(Required)
