Overview
This position works under the supervision of the Office Manager and Physicians.
The Surgical Coordinator schedules patients for surgery (to include all pre op and post op appointments) at designated surgery centers.
The Surgical Coordinator obtains insurance pre-authorizations and presents surgery consents and patient education regarding the required surgery.
The Surgical Coordinator prepares the surgery schedule for the physician and forwards to the designated surgery center.
All pre-op forms are completed and forwarded to the designated surgery centers.
What you will do
Communicates and documents essential information to physicians and team members.
Prepares referral follow up letters and dictations for referring physicians for the physicians review and signature.
Completes all routine duties/tasks in a timely manner.
Ability to meet scheduled deadlines on assigned projects.
(Pre-Op Forms, H&P from PCPs) Maintains a safe and clean work area.
Obtains insurance pre-authorizations for surgical procedures.
Reviews surgical prices for self-pay patients and for patients having procedures not covered by insurance.
Serves as a Liaison between patients and financing institutions for self pay patients.
Prepares charts for surgery to include surgery work up forms and consents prior to surgery date.
Maintains a working knowledge of facility, OSHA, and HIPAA compliance requirements.
Actively participates in departmental meetings, in-services and educational programs.
Successfully completes annual requirements (CBL's) for mandatory competencies within required time frames.
Participates in new employee on-boarding to enhance retention and reduce turnover of staff as evidenced by improved customer satisfaction scores and turnover rates.
Reviews all patient education after the physician has gone over risks and benefits with the patient.
Has patient sign all pre-operative consent forms.
Demonstrates positive interpersonal relations in dealing with patients and their families or caregivers to project a favorable image of the office and facilitate quality patient care.
Monitors/supports/tracks departmental productivity to meet the needs of the department, i.
e.
flex hours, and time off.
Prepares surgery schedule for designated surgery centers and forwards all H&P Information, Pre-Op orders to the surgery centers.
Effectively utilizes technology to increase efficiency including all equipment, Group Management, MedFlow, Electronic Health Record, Electronic Health Record, and Microsoft Office Programs.

High school or equivalent (Required)
Experience
1-3 years Medical office experience (Required)
