The Role This position is for the management of the E68 Carrier and Submarine Engineering Outsourcing and Business Team.
The position manages a team of individuals responsible for developing the technical rigor in support of outsourcing “Make” items and in the engineering bounding of “Make” to “Buy” tasking.
The team is also responsible for pulling and reporting vendor software to various leadership.
the team also supports the department manager is maintaining budget, progressing and LRM.
Daily Responsibilities include: Design major components or major portions of a functional system to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations Develop basic data and make preliminary layouts, sketches, and notes necessary to present design proposal Investigate pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replace ability, strength-weight efficiency, and contractual specification requirements and cost Coordinate with other organizations affected by design development Make layouts of complex assemblies and details parts of devices, mechanisms, and structures Check completed layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensioning Identify design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies, and recommends revisions and/or improvements in design layout to responsible engineers or designers Must Have Design Apprentice certification or Associate's degree in Design with 6 years of applicable, progressive professional and/or supervisory work experience Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline plus 4 years of applicable, progressive professional and/or supervisory work experience Or a Master's degree in a relevant discipline and 2 years of applicable experience.
