The Engineer II / Project Engineer works with the Project Manager(s) to develop design concepts which are incorporated into the final product by Staff Designers and Engineers.
The Project Engineer, in the role of project leader, may be asked to handle some project management and business development tasks but will primarily work on technical aspects of project development.
The ability to proactively use available resources such as books, industry publications, experienced colleagues, and review of past projects is essential to success in this position.
*Typical Duties* * Producing sketches for complicated design tasks * Preparing and delegating preliminary task lists * Incorporating design concepts from schematic design into design development * Applying professional stamp to drawings and project documentation * Coordinating design clearances * Selecting details * Documenting existing conditions * Troubleshooting of existing conditions and designs * Editing construction specification sections * Attending construction meetings and producing site observation reports (occasional local travel required) * Producing final punch lists * Researching non-routine code issues * Preparing addendums and change orders * Preparing opinions of probable cost for materials and systems and reviewing contractor cost estimates * Value engineering * Putting own work through the quality control review process * Reviewing technical work of others * Responding to comments from review authorities _*What DJG will do for you:*_ * Full benefits (medical, dental, vision, 401K with profit sharing) * Paid Time Off and Holiday Pay * Collaborative environment with one-on-one mentoring * Flexible work hours around core business hours of 9am – 3:30pm * Hybrid Office / Remote work options for licensed professionals * The opportunity to grow and shape the future of the Firm * Train and develop you to confidently advise our Clients and work as a Group Leader if desired _This position is intended for our Williamsburg, VA office.
