Job Description
The Clerk of the Circuit Court is currently seeking a Deputy Clerk I to work diligently to preserve and protect historical documents as well as accurately record current submissions for the benefit of present and future generations.
Duties will include but not limited to:
Assisting callers and customers and directing them to the appropriate party for disposition;
Providing general clerical support for office functions such as typing and filing;
Recording land records; reviewing records for format, location, signatures, notary, etc.
Scanning and indexing;
Recording judgments;
Helping set up payment plans following criminal proceedings; receiving payments;
Preparing marriage license applications;
Administering oaths of office for notaries, public officials, law enforcement officers and various committees;
Reviewing weapon permit applications;
Processing assumed/fictitious business name applications;
May run end of day register tape and balance cash drawer;
Preparing and maintaining various files and records; and
Performing other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS TO PERFORM WORK:
High school diploma or GED; Associate’s degree in a related field preferred
One (1) year of related experience; office or customer service experience in a court, legal, real estate, or related industry preferred
Or equivalent training, education and experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
General knowledge of the office methods, procedures and practices of the Office of the Clerk of Circuit Court
Proficiency with technology including MS Office
Ability to operate standard office, word processing and data entry equipment
Ability to pay attention to detail at all times to ensure accuracy; ability to perform efficiently in a multi-task environment
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with court officials, associates and the general public
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This work requires the frequent exertion of up to 10 pounds of force; work regularly requires balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, fingering, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity and walking.
