*Coast Guard Blue Dolphin Swim Team (CGBD)* is a silver medal swim club with a competitive and comprehensive swim team and lessons program in the Hampton Roads area.
Founded in 1965, CGBD has a long-standing rich tradition and history of success in swimming on the local, regional, and national levels.
*Age Group Coach* will report to the head of the Age Group Program and assist and report to the Head Coach regarding the daily operations of running the club.
This is a great opportunity to be involved with establishing the future direction of the program.
We train out of facilities in Hampton, Newport News, Ft.
Eustis and Williamsburg, VA.
*Coaching Responsibilities:*
* Working in all aspects of the Age Group Program and alongside our Head Age Group Coach
* Plan, prepare and conduct swimming and dryland workouts for Age Group swimmers
* Plan and execute season plans that include goals and measures of success for both the short course and long course seasons
* Be an energetic, compassionate teacher and a strong motivator capable of molding successful swimmers in and out of the water
* Assist swimmers in developing and improving the technical and physical skills of competitive swimming, and aid them in achieving success, as it pertains to each individual
* Travel to local and out-of-state meets as assigned by the Head Coach
* Maintain active USA Swimming membership, including all courses and certifications
*Administrative Responsibilities:*
* Work directly with the Head Developmental Coach, and Head Coach to create a positive and inclusive team environment based on the established philosophy of the Head Coach
* Perform additional administrative duties that pertain to the daily operations of the club as assigned by the Head Coach
* Maintain quality communication with staff and participants, including publishing meet and practice calendars, expectations, and opportunities, communicating via emails, texts, phone calls, etc.
* Communicate effectively in both verbal and written form with swimmers, assistant coaches, and parents
* Attend biweekly staff meetings
*Required Qualifications:*
* Prior experience coaching swimming in a USA Swimming program
* Prior experience coaching swimmers ages 12 and under
*Preferred Qualifications:*
* Prior experience training and managing assistant coaches
* Prior experience building a positive competitive team culture
* ASCA Level 2 or higher coach
