*About Us*
Our school was founded in 1989 as a weekday educational ministry of our Church.
The purpose of our ministry is to educate the whole child, intellectually, spiritually, emotionally, and physically by providing a developmentally appropriate curriculum within a Christian framework.
This school is religiously exempt from licensure and is classified as a "Religiously Exempt Child Day Center" under the VA Dept.
of Education.
Our annual enrollment averages 80 children.
We offer a Pre-K Program serving children ages 2 1/2 through 5 years old and a half-day kindergarten program.
Our school year runs from September to May and mostly follows our county school system regarding student holidays.
and our goal is to provide a nurturing environment where each child is treasured for who they are and where learning is fun.
*General Qualifications*
The Teacher should be a Christian and have experience in working with children.
A basic love for children and a commitment to teaching are essential.
It is desirable that the teacher have a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field.
In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, a minimum qualification would be high school or vocational training and at least two years’ experience as a teacher’s aide or in other related work.
The ideal candidate shall assist the director in the ongoing activities of the program and to serve as a Teacher in keeping with the policies established by the preschool program.
*Responsibilities*
* To maintain a Christian environment and provide activities which will promote children’s physical, emotional, mental, social, and spiritual growth.
* To work according to the schedule outlined by the director and to maintain prompt hours.
* To plan, implement, and supervise a daily teaching program in accordance with the policies and philosophy of the preschool program.
* To become well acquainted with every child, aware of his/her needs.
To give each child the attention needed to assure his best welfare.
This includes needs related to learning experiences, eating, toileting, sleeping, playing, working, health care, and safety.
* In cooperation with the director, to establish relationships with each child’s family.
* To provide a yearly evaluation of each child’s progress and development.
Records of significant incidents and experiences and any major injuries should also be recorded.
* To attend classes, workshops, and other training opportunities for personal and professional growth when possible.
* To work with maintenance and cleaning personnel to ensure a clean and orderly room each day.
* In cooperation with the director, to plan with other teachers using the same room to ensure maximum benefit of facilities.
* To attend all parent and staff meetings.
* To inform the director of needed supplies, repairs, and materials as far in advance as possible.
* To enrich daily programs in a variety of ways using the best methods of teaching and teaching materials provided for the learning experiences.
* To prepare weekly lesson plans and to maintain a thorough set of plans for a substitute teacher.
* To notify the director as soon as possible of absences.
* To become acquainted with and abide by all policies of the preschool.
*Supervision*
The Teacher is responsible to the director of the preschool program.
*Schedule*
The ideal candidate will be available Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8:30am-12:15pm.
*Pay*
Pay is dependent on education and experience.
The range for the 2023-2024 school year is $48-75 per school day.
