Job Summary There is one position which will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidates education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
This fully functional level applies skilled craft and/or operational knowledge to create, maintain or revise work standards and procedures that support nuclear plant operations, programs, and work practices.
Evaluates the feasibility of requested or proposed changes and analyzes documents as to their applicability to nuclear operations.
Researches technical manuals, vendor specifications, plant diagrams, design documents, station policies and regulatory requirements to obtain additional information and ensure the safe operation of equipment, procedure flow and workability, and adherence to regulatory requirements and writer guidelines.
Researches commitments with regulatory agencies that may impact new or existing procedures.
Performs plant walkdowns as needed, using observational findings, and reviews, assesses, develops, and maintains human factor standards, procedures, and aids for technical and administrative procedures.
Reviews and approves proposed changes to procedures and standards based upon human factor principles and effectiveness, to ensure compliance with company and nuclear regulatory guidelines and requirements, making recommendations for improvement.
Presents procedure changes to Facility Safety Review Committee (FSRC).
Procedural changes and work priorities are subject to review by the Nuclear Coordinator or Supervisor.
Coordinates reviews, comment resolution, and approvals of procedures with user departments and management.
Assists in the technical analysis, evaluation, and scope of interdisciplinary procedural problems.
Provides technical guidance to less experienced writers and may participate in peer documentation review to ensure procedural consistency.
May develop training modules required to implement approved standards and procedures.
This position may require being a member of the Emergency Preparedness Organization.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience The knowledge, skills, abilities and experience required for entry into this job include the following: Required for Nuclear Procedures Writer I Associate degree or completion of technical program in craft discipline (mechanical, electrical, instrument and controls, etc.
) or nuclear operations required.
1-2 years of work experience demonstrating solid working knowledge of crat specialty or nuclear operations.
Required for Nuclear Procedures Writer II Associate degree or completion of technical program in craft discipline (mechanical, electrical, instrument and controls, etc.
) or nuclear operations required.
3+ years of work experience demonstrating solid working knowledge of craft specialty or nuclear operations to include previous experience preparing and writing descriptive documents using publishing tools and writer guidelines, and to verify documentation both orally and visually.
Nuclear Procedures Writer III.
Associate degree or completion of technical program in craft discipline (mechanical, electrical, instrument and controls, etc.
) or nuclear operations required.
5+ years of work experience demonstrating solid working knowledge of craft specialty or nuclear operations to include experience coordination with managers, stations, and corporate groups.
Leadership skills, ability to analyze issue quickly and assess risk.
Ability to prioritize and assign work, and to serve as a technical resource to others.
Demonstrates strong customer service orientation and high degree of ownership.
Excellent communication and organizational skills and demonstrated ability to meet with all levels of management, and to effectively represent and negotiate issues and concerns.
Skilled in use of computer and procedure writing software.
Education Requirements Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education: Associate degree or completion of technical program in craft discipline (mechanical, electrical, instrument and controls, etc.
) or nuclear operations required.
