Salary (G216): $50,581 – $84,558

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design, program, test, debug, deploy, and modify databases in Claris FileMaker that support the mission of Hampton City Schools
Develop data-exchange processes between Claris FileMaker and other systems (eg.
Google Sheets, web servers, third-party websites)
Design and implement highly-functional user-friendly database interfaces using modern design standards
Design and implement data reports and interfaces for a variety of technical and non-technical audiences
Implement proper security controls in all solutions
Develop automation to improve data accuracy, reduce user error, and increase efficiency
Create effective documentation, code commenting, and change logs when needed
Evaluate legacy databases for improvement or replacement
Collaborate with other staff to design solutions to specific problems
Perform other duties as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Professional work experience designing, programming, testing, debugging, deploying, and updating enterprise-level databases using commercially-available tools
Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, information science, or related field preferred
Professional work experience with Claris FileMaker preferred
Professional work experience with Google Sheets, Microsoft Excel, SQL variants, scripting languages preferred
Ability to learn new database and programming tools (eg.
Claris FileMaker) both through training by a colleague and self-directed learning
Ability to communicate clearly and positively, both verbally and in writing
Ability to organize and prioritize multiple daily tasks
Ability to collaborate positively with other staff, both technical and non-technical
Ability to use a variety of computing form factors and platforms
Ability to operate a computer in an office environment for long periods of time daily
