The Office of Institutional Research (IR) is a trusted provider of historical and current information for the university and external constituencies.
IR collects, analyzes, and reports on data; disseminates unbiased information; contributes to the development and use of effective data standards university-wide; and promotes the university’s continuous improvement and mission.
Position Summary Reporting to the Director of Institutional Research, working closely with staff members within Office of Institutional Research and with Data Analytics team, the primary purpose of this position is, as an institutional research analyst, to (1) plan, implement, and complete quantitative and qualitative analyses on a full range of university information including student enrollment and demographics, courses, financial, facilities, human resources, and retention and graduation performance data; (2) prepare, analyze, and submit data and information to state (SCHEV), federal (e.
g.
, IPEDS, NSF), and other external agencies and contractors such as guidebook surveys and ranking reports agencies ; (3) develop, maintain, and publish interactive Fact Book on university data; perform Fact Book related duties including participating Data Fluency education to the university community; and (4) develop innovative database and programming solutions and data visualization capacities combining data from multiple domains (student, HR, finance, etc.
) to provide a more systemic perspective for understanding institutional performance and measuring progress toward strategic goals.
Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in an analytical field of study, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrated ability to statistically analyze, understand and use information from multiple data sources, including relational database management systems and associated data warehouses and datamarts, to perform analyses and to prepare reports and briefings.
Intermediate programming experience in an analytical programming language.

Work experience in an analytical office setting.
Demonstrated effective interpersonal, problem-solving, oral and written communication skills.

Knowledge of complex data and use to provide effective answers to questions posed.
Demonstrated ability to multitask in a time-sensitive environment while maintaining a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
Demonstrates excellent organizational skills for archiving, validating, categorizing, and organizing datasets for official annual reporting.
Experience in using an office suite package, e.

Preferred Qualifications Advanced degree in a related field, specifically a Master’s degree in an analytical field of study, higher education or closely related field.
Experience in public doctoral institutions within higher education or state governance policy setting.
Experience in SAS strongly preferred.
Basic to intermediate predictive modeling skills in areas such as enrollment projection, staffing projections or resource planning (course-taking patterns, salary analyses and equity studies, classroom usage, faculty workload, etc.
) Intermediate level skills in SQL programming and/or experience using SQL query software.
Experience in data mining and visual analytics techniques.
Experience with enterprise applications such as Ellucian Banner products, Workday, Slate, Salesforce, etc.
