Position Summary Reporting to the Assistant Director of Financial Operations, this position will develop and manage budgets and manage financial operations for departments under the Provost Office to include but not limited to a Vice Provost, four Associate Provosts, two Assistant Provosts and two centers.
The position is responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on budgets.
Will review and report on unexpected budget issues.
Reconciles local funds, private funds, and E&G funds to include preparing monthly reconciliations.
Will analyze and process all purchase requests for goods and services.
This position’s duties will require an in-depth understanding, utilization, and management of the budgeting processes, revenue sources, and expenditures.
Conditions of Employment This position may require additional hours beyond the typical work week, to include occasional overnight and weekend work as needed to meet the business needs of the operation.

No, this is a continuing E&G funded position Position Term 12 month - Continuing Position Months Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or finance or equivalent combination of education and experience Experience working with fiscal administration and budget management Proven ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, resolve issues effectively, and exercise sound judgement when making decisions Strong organizational skills with the demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple priorities concurrently with competing deadlines Strong interpersonal, oral and written communications skills with the ability to work effectively with all levels of a diverse and varied constituency (e.
g.
executives, administrators, faculty, and students) Intermediate to advanced level proficiency with Excel Working knowledge of fiscal administration and generally accepted accounting practices and procedures, as well as tracking and projecting expenditures Demonstrated experience developing and managing budgets.
Demonstrated skill with automated and productivity systems in the areas of fund management, procurement, and fiscal reporting.
Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills to include Internet browsers and Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Experience tracking and projecting expenditures.
Preferred Qualifications Experience in higher education Experience with Banner Finance, Qlik, Chrome River, BuyW&M Experience supporting and advising executives.
Familiarity with Virginia state policies and procedures Familiarity with W&M policies and procedures Significant experience with procurement & purchasing policies and procedures Several years of progressively responsible financial and budget management experience Is the position remote work eligible? Hybrid (works remotely at least 1 day per week but not full-time) Remote Work Disclaimer Remote work eligibility is not guaranteed and is subject to approval.

Advertised Pay Range Up to $67,000, commensurate with experience.
